欧州連合の共通語「ヨーロピアン・イングリッシュ」

通貨統合（ユーロの導入）に引き続き、リスボン条約の発効によって新たなステージに進んだ感のある欧州連合（EU）ですが、今度は「共通語」の導入に向けて動き始めたそうです。

以下、当社（誰だよ）が入手した「ヨーロピアン・イングリッシュ」導入への草案をご覧に入れます。

European English:
AS a result of the new Lisbon Treaty signed only last Friday-The European Commission has just announced an agreement whereby English will be the official language of the European Union rather than German, which was the other possibility.
As part of the negotiations, the British Government conceded that English spelling had some room for improvement and has accepted a 5year phase-in plan that would become known as "Euro-English" .

「ついに、リスボン条約が去る金曜日に発効したことを受け、欧州委員会はドイツ語（可能性が示唆されていた）ではなく英語が欧州連合の公式言語となることで合意した、と発表しました。
交渉の過程で、英国政府は英語のスペルに改善すべき点があることを認め、今後 5 年をかけて『ヨーロピアン・イングリッシュ』へと変貌することを受け入れました。」とあります。

確かに英語のスペルはフランス語などと比べ、あまりにあいまいな点が多く、他言語使用者からの批判の的とされていました。有名なジョークとしては "ghoti" などがあります（ちなみに「フィッシュ」と読みます）。

初年度の案「c」→「s」or「k」

では、草案の続きです。

In the first year, "s" will replace the soft "c". Sertainly, this will make the sivil servants jump with joy.
The hard "c" will be dropped in favour of "k". This should klear up konfusion, and keyboards kan have one less letter. There will be growing publik enthusiasm in the sekond year when the troublesome "ph" will be replaced with "f". This will make words like fotograf 20% shorter.

初年度は、軟音の「c」を「s」に置き換えるところから始めます。従って、"the civil servants" は "the sivil servants" になります。また、硬音の「c」は「k」に置き換えられます。これにより "konfusion"（confusion: 混乱）は "klear up"（clear up: 解決）され、そして、キーボードのキートップの数をひとつ減らすことができます（「C」言語は「S」言語になる！？）。

次年度の案「ph」→「f」

次年度は「ph」を「f」に置き換えます。これにより、"photograph" という単語は "fotograf" になり、20 % の短縮が可能となるのでみんな大助かりです。

3 年目の案「二重音字と無音の "e" の廃止」

In the 3rd year, publik akseptanse of the new spelling kan be expekted to reach the stage where! more komplikated changes are possible.

Governments will enkourage the removal of double letters which have always ben a deterent to akurate speling.

Also, al wil agre that the horibl mes of the silent "e" in the languag is disgrasful and it should go away.

3 年目には、新たな綴り字への理解も深まり、より複雑な変更も可能になるだろうということで、「二重音字」と「無音の "e"」が廃止されます。"horrible" も "horibl" になるわけです。

4 年目の案「th」→「z」、「w」→「v」

By the 4th yer people wil be reseptiv to steps such as replasing "th" with "z" and "w" with "v".

4 年目にもなると、人々は「th」が「z」になり、「w」が「v」に変わったとしても、誰も文句を言わなくなるでしょう。

5 年目の案「ou」→「u」

During ze fifz yer, ze unesesary "o" kan be dropd from vords kontaining "ou" and after ziz fifz yer, ve vil hav a reil sensibl riten styl.

5 年目には、「ou」に含まれる不要な「o」が無くなります。そして、この 5 年間で、私たちは本当に「分別のある」綴り字法を持つことになるでしょう。

統一ヨーロッパの夢がここに実現する！
